Missions is at the heart of Mark and Ramona’s ministry.  Both Mark and Ramona received their call to missions while they attended Faith School of Theology in Charleston, Maine.  The Lord placed the “Go unto every creature and preach the gospel...” upon their hearts during one of the many missions conferences held at the school.  It has been many years since this call, but the Lord has His perfect timing.  Over the past several years, both Mark and Ramona have made several trips to the field and have ministered in several countries and three continents.  It is their desire that they will be full-time in the near future.

Please pray for them in 2008, as they prepare to return to Costa Rica in the fall of 2008 and India in the beginning of 2009.

Mark’s desire is to use his teaching gifts to train pastors for the ministry.  Ramona’s desire is to work with orphans and widows.

Missions

Costa Rica 2008:

Mark and Ramona, as well as their youngest daughter Michelle, traveled to Heredia, Costa Rica, about 30 minutes outside the capitol of San Jose, along with a group of twenty others. They  spent nine days ministering in three churches, participating on two occasions in a feeding program for Nicaraguan refugees, painted a local church as well as install two concrete handicap parking spots, as required by the government for that same church. They were also able to minister to the host missionary by working on the mission buildings and perform necessary vehicle repairs.

Mark traveled half way around the world for a ten day trip to the city of Chennai, India with a group of seven others. During this trip they had opportunities to enter into and minister to several leper colonies.  These desperate people were ripe for the gospel of Jesus Christ. They had opportunity to share gifts, give testimonies, preach the Word, and pray for those needy people.  They also attended a family camp celebration, prayer meetings, and a sports camp with a number of Muslims in attendance.  Several of these young men gave their hearts to the Lord.  The also were able to encourage local congregations with the message of hope.  In all they believe that over fifty men and women were rescued from an eternity without Christ.  Much work needs to be done in this dark land.

Guatemala 2005

Mark and Ramona, as well as their oldest daughter Alicia and their middle daughter Angela traveled to Parramos, Guatemala in 2005.  They were accompanied by twenty others for a week of medical missions as well as the construction of a new bathroom facility and pharmacy for the local church.  The week was extra rewarding as part of this group consisted of the sending church’s youth group.  This group had the priviledge of painting three of the church member’s homes which were recently constructed.

Guatemala 2004

Mark was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Guatemala with five other men for the expressed purpose of building a house for a needy church family.  A missionary couple provided the funds and in cooperation with national workers the group was able to lay about 60% of the concrete block for the walls of the house.  It was a great time of fellowship with the nationals and with his fellow brothers in the Lord.  The house was completed shortly after the group’s return to Florida.  This house was painted by a youth group the following year.

Guatemala 2003

Mark and Ramona were blessed to travel for the first time from the North American continent.  They traveled to Parramos, Guatemala where they spent ten days with a team of nineteen others.  It was to be their mission to distribute clothing, shoes, building materials and needed church equipment to the Christians in Parramos.  After their arrival they discovered that the cargo was delayed by the government and they would not be able to fulfill what they went there to do.  God knew this was going to happen and they found whatever their hands could do to be a blessing the the people in Parramos.  They painted the church buildings, moved walls, repaired electrical wiring in church people’s homes and had time just to absorb the people and culture.  It turned out to be a blessing.  Ramona also had the opportunity to work in the medical field while there.  The missionaries hired a doctor from Guatemala City to come and treat several illnesses in the church congregation.  Ramona had the privilege in assisting him with his work.  She truly was a blessing.

While there Mark and Ramona had the opportunity to climb Mount Pacaya an active volcano to the northeast of Guatemala City.  Mark is fascinated by them and they were able to see moving lava as it flowed down the mountain. God grants us the desires of our hearts.
